Shaking? Empty Shaking?

Post  monkey5 11/27/2011, 10:37 am

pug2 My family left for Thanksgiving a when we return later that night we found our 10 yr old Pug had been spitting up foam and she was hacking the whole night, she has had very little appt. and shakes most the time. She only wants to lay on my children's coats on the floor or have someone hold her. She is not spitting up foam put still acts like she is hacking. Any one had this happen to their pug?

The shaking usually indicates pain. If it was my pug, I would take her in to the vet asap.... even if it is a Sunday.

I agree with Rebecca 100%...an emergency vet visit is in order as your pug is likely in pain!

That does not sound good and you need to get her to the vet ASAP. I hope it is just a small tummy bug but you can't be sure.

Is she pottying normally?

If she was eating people food during the Thanksgiving holiday, it could be gastroenteritis, or something else related to eating richer-than-usual foods. Something very similar happened to one of my mom's dogs years ago - she required vet care and IV liquids for several days to pull through.

I agree, you should contact a vet or emergency clinic before waiting any longer.

Also, is there any chance she could have ingested a bone? Are her stools normal-looking, and does her stomach area seem distended or swollen? Color of her gums? If they are paler than usual, that also can indicate a problem.
