Has anyone here on PA ever done an international flight with their pugs? Im getting ready to make the journey from japan back to the states, its going to be a 1 layover flight, stopping first in seattle, then on to washington DC. Anyone have any advice on best practices, I have allready made sure that they can fly in the cabin, so that is one check mark. Anything else I should know? this is my biggest worry on moving.

Try sending a PM to Sara. She and her husband did an international flight to Italy, and she can give you all the ins and outs. I do know that some airlines allow in-cabin international flights and some don't. Also, the weight restrictions can be more stringent internationally, so if either of your kids has chubby issues, I"d deal with that ASAP.

Good idea Ginger about contacting Sara. She has flown all over with CP.

Good luck Chris.

Sara would have the best advice but definitely get the Sherpa bags now that they will be traveling in and start training them to really like being in the bags. Lots of treats and positive reinforcement for being in the bag. And do bring small treats on the flight. If you can get it past security, a little peanut butter on the finger for them to lick off is good for emergencies.

I have done long flights, but not THAT long. Went from TN to Alaska and TN to Los Angeles. Mine literally held it the entire time, both trips with layovers and everything. Now airports typically have potty areas where you can take them outside on a little grass area to potty. You'll have to ask an employee to show you where it is. I would think if you could get them to potty on a potty pad, like in the airplane bathroom, that would be ideal cause they wouldn't have to hold it. I knew mine would never do that cause they have never even seen a potty pad and would look at me like I was nuts. I can't even get them to go in our garage if it's really nasty weather. They have to be outside I guess to trigger the need to go!
