Is he allergic to shrimp? How many pounds is he? Generally benadryl is a very safe drug to give, but make sure it's the plain old benadryl. Watch for any signs of respiratory distress-trouble breathing, etc. Mine get benadryl nightly for allergies during some months.

I can't tell from your post, is he actually allergic to shrimp, or not?
If he just got the juice, and you are monitoring him... I think a benedryl will be fine, as long as he does not display any symptoms of anaphylactic shock, trouble breathing, etc.
You can put the benedryl in some lunch meat, or peanut butter to get the pill down.
If he is not allergic, then I think you may be over-reacting. He will likely be just fine.

I do not know if he is allergic, he is allergic to chicken and beef, he blew up and passed out...I gave 1/2 benadryl like the vet said and he is being monitored right now

He is 13lbs...1/2 benadryl given...no swelling its been almost 15 minutes...still monitoring...will keep doing that for a couple days...
I do tend to react to food allergies very seriously as I went through alot with Julian and chicken....
thanks for answering me quickly.

Sounds like you are doing everything right!

If there was no immediate severe reaction I think you'll be safe, but the benadryl will certainly help ease anything not-too serious. I don't think it would help in anaphylaxis though. Maybe you need to see if he does have a serious allergy. Hope all is okay!

shell fish allergies are actually rare in dogs, but my pomeranian did have one. You're doing the right thing. If he had a severe allergy to shrimp, you'd know by now.
Re: SHRIMP ALLERGY PLZ RESPOND IF ONLINE
I think we can rule out immediate reactions, unless the benadryl did the trick...Julian seems to be doing OK, I have not seen any breathing problems or any swelling...Thank God, they really are like babies...Thank you all for your responses, I appreciate it, this was my second stop after calling the vet :)

I am just seeing this, so NOW I understand the PM you sent.
I am glad everything is OK! I buy generic Benadryl (diphenhydramine) in the 25 mg 100-count bottles strength just in case.

It does sound like things are ok. Penny gets 25 mg of benadryl (I call it Pennydryl) twice a day, and it doesn't slow her down at all. It is a Good Thing to have on hand. I hide her pills in the Wellness 95% salmon, as she has learned to eat the cheese from around the pills and spit them out. Hugs to you and to Julian.

I know just what you mean, Melissa. I talk more about my pugfriends than I do my face-to-face friends, and I do feel closer to folk here than a lot of face-to-face people.
