Not kennel cough

Post  Miss Pugg on 5/22/2012, 9:22 pm

Continuing story. My friend with the tiny Morkie (sigh) pup, about 6 mo. old, had the puppy diagnosed by a local vet as being kennel cough and to bring her back in two months if not better. She did that within a month and with nothing resolved. She then went to a vet in a larger city with no better results. Today after 2.5 months of the poor little thing coughing and hacking, the new vet, who is highly recommended in Peoria, Il., about 65 miles from here), several things were determined - mostly. Vet thinks it's not a tracheal situation and also that it is NOT kennel cough. She thinks a kibble got into the puppy's nose or that she has 'nose' mites, probably from when she was born (a typical puppy mill situation but my friend HAD to have a Morkie!). She's going back Friday and several more tests will be made then, along with pulling some baby teeth. I have no idea how much this has cost but I do know the owners are very, very careful and will do everything they can do get her well. Have any of you heard of 'nose mites'? This is new to me but sounds logical. Poor little thing is just so tired from all this coughing. Please keep sweet little Biscuit in your thoughts, she's such a sweetie.

What a rough road! I hope they can sort this out for the poor little thing. Very sad situation on all accounts.

Poor little thing! I had never heard of nose mites, either. They sound dreadful. I'll say a prayer and send a good thought to little Biscuit.

Nose mites

Thanks Rebecca for the URL about the nose mites. I sent it on to her and she is very glad to read it. She's a nervous but excellent doggy Mom, tries to do everything the right way.
