Bozlee scared me this AM...
At 5 AM this morning I took the gang outside for potties... We all tromped back to bed for awhile (feeding time is 6-6:30). I was sitting on the bed when I noticed Bozlee was sitting there, head straight in the air, like he was afraid to move. I then noticed his eye (his ONLY eye) was puffy and shut.
I immediately got him up on the kitchen counter and washed his eye out with eye wash. I couldn't see an ulcer, but I was afraid to look too hard. I also gave him a Benadryl. He seemed more relaxed after the eye wash, but since he only has one eye I wasn't taking chances. I got showered and dressed and we went to his dogtor about 6:45. His dogtor is there early, thank goodness. The eye puffiness seemed to have gone down some, probably because of the Benadryl.
I explained to the doc what I had done so far, and he kept Bozlee to check the eye for an ulcer. I went to work... worried of course...
I called near lunchtime. The vet said Bozlee didn't have an ulcer, but did have a tiny scratch on his eye. He thinks the puffiness was probably a corneal irritation from a bug bite of some sort or something got into the eye and I washed it out.
He sent me home with 2 different eye drops, and I am to call him daily about Bozlee's condition for the next few days.
Bozlee was happy to see me, and didn't look like he was in pain like he did this morning. Whew!

Pugs and their eyes - guaranteed heart stoppers. So glad that it is fix-able. Penny sends her love to Bozlee, by the way.

Anything with eyes in it doesn't bring good feelings.
So glad it's nothing major and hopefully with meds, he'll be right as can be straightaway.

Eyes + pugs = money to some specialist! Glad it isn't as bad as you feared, but sorry Boz has to have any problem at all. Hugs to the brave little guy!

UPDATE...
Update: This morning the tissue surrounding the eye wasn't swollen. I can see the scratch the vet was talking about now. He winces when he looks up, though, so I know it hurts. I called the vet and I am picking up some Rimadyl for him today to help the pain. He's giving me some samples.
I'll post another update tonight or in the morning.

I'm so glad it wasn't an ulcer! Hope the Rimadyl makes him more comfortable. Gawd, pug eyes are the worst!

So scary!! I am so freaked out about my boy's eyes! I'm glad that Bozlee doesn't have anything serious, but sad to hear he might be in pain. Love him up!
