Have him check with Eddie's Wheels. They have used ones available for sale sometimes.

Sometimes veterinary specialist clinics have them too.

Thanks Renee, I just wasn't sure where to send him.
PLEASE tell him that he cannot just slam this dog into any cart. They HAVE to be fitted to the dog. He can do significant damage to the dog if the cart isn't properly fitted.

I understand that he may not have a ton of money, but a badly fitting cart can make spinal issues much worse and can do damage to front end joints, bladder and kidneys.

Eddie's Wheels has pretty specific dog dimensions you send to them...they'll let your friend know if they have a used cart they can refurb for the chi or if he'd have to wait or opt for new. They're not that expensive all things considered (probably under $350 new for that size dog) and if your friend is in your area then its not that long a drive to get it custom fit (though they can ship anywhere with instructions on how to adjust).

I should clarify. Eddie's Wheels are great and really do a terrific job.

My concern--cause I see it up here a lot--is someone just giving a cart to someone and they assume it's okay for their dog. I also see a ton of home made carts. We see some dogs through our canine rehab centre who have been put in a cart that didn't fit or was homemade who developed major problems as a result.

I just wanted to be clear that while people's hearts are often in the right place when they give someone a used cart, the need to fit it properly is really crucial.
