Feeding when your dog has DH Empty Feeding when your dog has DH

Zoe's had DH the last couple of days.  I've never really seen this with her. What do I feed?  I seem to remember a bland diet like rice and boiled chicken?  Don't think I've ever boiled chicken...lol

Any advice appreciated.  btw - not easy to clean up off of carpet!

Boiled white meat chicken and rice, can also use very lean ground beef. Stoney field plain organic yogurt helps too as long as she doesn't have a problem with dairy.

Poor Zoe and you! We went through this recently with our Zoe and it was NOT fun! The vet wound up putting her on Flagyl for a week, antibiotics (her WBC count was high), and Fortiflora (probiotic). We also did the bland diet thing - ground beef and white rice. Hopefully it doesn't come to all of that with your Zoe though! I was very thankful that I had purchased a new carpet cleaning machine just before it happened.

I've used canned chicken before. It's in the grocery section near the tuna and other canned meats. I just drain it, rinse it well, and add it to the cooked rice.

Poor Zoe!

I would think you could use that Uncle Bens already cooked rice. Mix it with the canned chicken and you shouldn't have to cook at all. Wink

I also used Flagyl from the vet when Aggy had issues.

picked up boil in the bag rice and just boiled it with the chicken in the same pot.  worked well, but 15 min was entirely too long once she knew what it was.  on the 2nd night, she barked the entire time!  seemed to do the trick.  she's good now.

thanks again!

I went through the same thing with Phoebe and after $100 figured out it was stress. Still it is good to have the Flagyl on hand. Another good thing about boiling your own rice is that the rice water is also good for them. Phoebe fasts herself when she isn't feeling good which is one blessing of having a non-food motivated pug.
