Anyone tried Apoquel?
I'm hearing good things about it from the Griffy people who have tried it. I think I'm going to try it on Izzy if I can find any place that has some available.

Re: Anyone tried Apoquel?
I've heard it's quite in demand and there are shortages. I know it's supposed to be amazing for allergies, but I'm not sure exactly what type of allergies.
Also not sure on the cost. I believe Saira may have started using this for Sophie?

Yes, we were one of the lucky ones who got some because of Sophie's issues. However, we can't actually start it yet because of the chemo. I know 3 people who switched from Atopica to this with amazing results-in fact, they had to switch back to Atopica when they ran out and saw the issues flare up again. From what I know, the company ran out (so vets are rationing it) and won't start up again until August. Our dermatologist gave a talk to the speciality center where we take Sophie and said it really was working amazingly well for animals.
Re: Anyone tried Apoquel?
My vet was reluctant to give it to Izzy because of the problems getting it and because Izzy is doing so well on the Atopica. It's a shame they can't keep it in stock. I hear the 50 lb and up dose is unavailable until January 2015.

Re: Anyone tried Apoquel?
We switched about a month ago from a combo of Atopica and Ketaconazole to Apoquel and it's worked wonders for Carl. We had basically tried everything (custom shots and all) and after about two months, his allergies would kick back up with a passion. Not so far with Apoquel.
This is the first that I heard about the supply issues so maybe I should reach out to his allergist.
