Lola has a squinty eye

Post  lola's mom on 6/15/2011, 10:45 am

Before I left for work on Monday morning I noticed Lola was squinting her right eye. I wasn't taking any chances, especially with her eyes so Walker took her to the Vet while I was at work. The Vet told him it was a really tiny scratch that you could hardly see. I guess you could only see it in a certain angle.

She did a flourescein dye test and a schemer tear test and sent him home with corneal repair drops to use for 7 days.

Lola is still squinting that eye and it looks like there is a little bubble on her eye. Is this normal? Do I wait it out a day or two more with these drops or should I go back to the Vet. She said she wanted a follow up in 7 days but I'm worried, as usual.

Oh I'm so sorry!! Eye injuries are so stressful. I would call back and let them know the new development and see if they want you to come back in.

Was this your regular vet or an eye specialist? I don't even bother going to my regular vet if I suspect an eye issue. We go straight to the eye dogtor. It's more expensive but has saved an eye more than once.

I have to agree with this. Our regular vet was all about removing the eye that Mac is blind in, but we went to the veterinary ophthalmologist and after the procedure she performed he still has both eyes. With the development of the bubble, I'd definitely see about getting Lola into a specialist, or at least back to the regular vet in the interim.

Poor girl, I hope her eye heals up quickly.

Poor Lola

I would follow-up with the Vet, ours was good and referred us to an Opthamologist right away.
I hope Lola is okay

I've not seen anything like a little bubble and we have dealt with lots of eye issues. I wouldn't wait to go back to the vet, I'd go now.

Hope she's better soon.

I guess it's not like a bubble it's more like a piece of lint in her eye. It's hard to explain, almost like a scratch that is slightly raised. It's also not cloudy. I keep examining it like a nut.

I just got off the phone with the Vet and they saw everything I explained and it's in her record. The drops are supposed to repair it. They wanted to see her in a week to make sure they are working. I saw the other Vet not my regular one so he is going to call me back and let me know if he wants to see Lola sooner. The Vet I use is our rescue Vet and he has pugs in his office every single day so I do trust him. I will follow up and if I need to go to a specialist I certainly will do that. Also if there is the slightest change, off we go. I am not messing with her eyes. They seem to want me to give the drops a chance.

Lola worries me to death.

Good luck with the eye! Otto had a scratch on his cornea a few summers ago and I was a nut case until it started to get better. All the drops and ointments were very intimidating at first, plus he had to wear a cone. Hope your girl is better soon with no more problems!
