Comfortis-good or bad? Empty Comfortis-good or bad?

Has anyone been using Comfortis on their pugs?I went to the vet and they recommended it but then they also said that if the pug is prone to seizures that they said not to use it.My Chester hasn't ever had any seizures, but if its that strong to make seizures worse I don't think I want to use it.Right now I use Frontline and it is doing squat.Any opinions would be appreciated:)

I haven't heard anything about Comfortis. I've used Revolution for about 6 years with no issues.

A couple of my foster homes use it and swear by it. None of them have had any issues. One of them lives in AL and she said its the only thing that has worked for them.

I've not heard of it, but I use Revolution. Here's the blurb on side effects and contraindications:

Precautions and Side Effects

  • While generally safe and effective when prescribed by a veterinarian, Comfortis™ can cause side effects in some animals.
  • Comfortis™ should not be used in animals with known hypersensitivity or allergy to the drug.
  • Comfortis™ is approved for use in dogs and [color:5112=blue !important][color:5112=blue !important]puppies over 14 weeks of age. It should be used with caution in breeding females and in dogs with epilepsy.

  • Comfortis™ may interact with other medications. Consult with your
veterinarian to discuss using other medications when your pet is on
Comfortis™. One interaction of note is when used with high doses of ivermectin – have resulted in signs of ivermectin toxicity in some dogs.

  • Comfortis™ is an oral agent. The most common side effect noted was
vomiting. Other adverse reactions included decreased appetite, lethargy,
redness of the skin, hyperactivity and excessive salivation.

I give my girls Comfortis and have not had any troubles at all. Neither of my girls have ever had seizures prior to using it though. But, to answer your question, I don't notice anything different about them after I give it to them.

My friend Cindy uses it on her two pugs. The female had reactions to any topical meds for fleas, etc and would itch and scratch all the time. She loves it and says it has worked great.

Does it work for ticks? That is the only thing that would worry me living where we do.
