Looking for a gentle food
I am looking for suggestions on a more gentle food for Kingston.
He has pancreatitis right now, so he is eating hamburger & rice.
I think I may have caused his pancreatitis. I put him on Taste of the Wild about 2 weeks ago, and I have been feeding him double what I would feed my own pugs because he is underweight. I think it was too much for him to handle.
To make things a little more complicated, he has allergies. I have not pinned them down, as I have only had him about a month, but I am trying to eliminate grains, etc.

You could try California Naturals Grain Free. I wish i could steer people away from Natura products, but for a lower fat, LID diet there's nothing out there really comparable to CN. It comes in Lamb, Venison, and Chicken.

Thanks Mandy. I will google it to see if anyone sells it in AK.
I feel bad that he needs low fat to help with the pancreatitis, and at the same time, he is underweight. It's counter-intuitive.

Add some squash to his diet, i've heard from a few rescuers/breeders that it helps. Spaghetti squash, zucchini, that kind of stuff.

I don't know if the ingredients work for Kingston, but perhaps a good senior recipe like Merrick's Senior Medley? It's a little less of everything, lower fat, lower protein, simpler ingredients.

Good idea Kendie. I need to cut back the fat and protein for the pancreatitis, but adding in more carbs, like Mandy said, should work to help with his weight.

I also was thinking a senior diet might work- mostly due to a lower fat content...
I use senior Chicken Soup for Rocky. I realize you are working on allergy problems though, so I don't know if a chicken dog food would work.
