I had thought Reggie has had some extra eye discharge for the last week or so, but it didn't look like conjunctivitis. No squinting either or signs of ulcers, and I was worried it was KCS. I upped his normal eye lubrication (for entropion, PK, and just as supplemental lubrication), but it didn't help. Took him to his vet where I work, and yep, he has KCS (dry eye). Crying or Very sad Poor guy. One eye is much worse than the other. Theoretically, since it is an immune system based issue, it may be a result of his severe allergies he had this season. It also could be reversed (and fingers crossed, especially since he's only 7). He'll get cyclosporin twice a day in each eye for a month, and we'll retest. Growing up we had a pug who had it, but my parents opted not to treat it and he went blind. I will not be letting that happen to Reggie, even if he needs prescription drops permanently.

It's so wonderful that Reggie is with you, so he can get the care he needs. Sorry to hear about his dry eye. I know he's in the very best hands.

As the others said, the only silver lining in this story is that he's got you as a mommy. I have to give Zoe eye drops every night. she hates it, but is very food motivated so it works out in the end. the only pain is that the drops have to be refridgerated, but I have to let them get room temp before I put them in her eyes. sometimes mommy forgets to take them out of the fridge in time and we skip a night. oops!

Stewie is on the same drops for dry eye, so far he has been good with me giving them to him, now I just have to make it part of the routine because I forget.

I hope you're able to figure out Reggies eyes.

He is in good hands now. I'm glad your folks let you have him.
