Seizures

My foster Mary has had 2 seizures in the past several days, and I'm taking her to the vet this afternoon. I didn't actually see either one-- Byron's girlfriend saw this most recent and longest one (about 3.5 minutes) and they both saw the one prior to that. Interestingly, both happened while she was eating dinner, which is a connection I don't think I've seen described a trigger before.

Anything in particular that I should ask the vet?

Seizure or choking on her food? That would be my first question. Maybe she's eating too fast?

Poor girl, I'll pray for her well-being.

I wondered the same thing as Mary Jo...3.5 minutes is a LONG time for a seizure to go on for so sounds like choking/reverse sneezing as a result.

Hoping everything turns out okay for her. Unfortunately not much you can do about seizures but rule stuff out - hoping lots of that happens at least :)

Ginger - having had first hand experience with seizures, 3.5 is really long. I would ask them for a description of what they saw. There are specific phases to seizures and that is what you want to find out. Questions to ask would be: did she fall to her side, was she biting at the air, feet paddling, foam out of her mouth...

No, honestly, he and I have been broken up for a while now, and I like her just fine. The fact that she gets annoyed by the same things that annoyed me makes me respect her a bit more. Does she get to spend the night here? No!

I would make sure to mention to the vet that the seizure like activity is occurring when she eats.

What'd the vet say? I was thinking maybe it was more of a choking/reverse sneeze incident too.

It sounds like a bit of piggy puggie reverse sneezing to me, too. Penny has a food bowl she could bathe in to slow her eating down, and she does a lot less of the choking/reverse sneezing since I switched her to it.
