MRI was NORMAL!!

So no indication that Pippin has anything dreadful. We still don't know why he had seizures, but it's not anything like PDE, tumour, or other scary things. We're going to switch him to Potassium Bromide from the phenobarbital as it can impact the liver over the long term. If he responds well to the bromide, we'll get him neutered and go from there.

Not sure what to do about the demodex. there seems to be a bit of pressure to "treat" it, but it's pretty minor and I'd prefer not to do anything unless necessary--certainly not while we're trying to get his meds regulated.

I would just use an immume booster for the demodex to help him fight it himself. After his meds are ok, you could do more. I use the missing link that I get at the local pet stores.

The sounds like good news on the MRI results. I would just go with your gut on treating the mange. You know what he can and can't handle right now. Even though it may not look pretty, it isn't life threatening so maybe you can hold off on aggressive treatment for now. You and a puppy-hehehe

Yeah, I like the Missing Link and will probably start him on that. It just drives me batty that there is this rush to put more toxins in his body.

Glad to hear his results were normal. I'm so leary of bad MRI results due to Winston and disease no one had ever heard of.

I'd say that they are under control. He hasn't had one since Feb. 6th when the vet clinic put him on phenobarb. And I fully expected him to have one during all the stress of transport, rehoming, vet visits, etc. But no breakthrough seizures at all.

We'll see how he goes, but I'm not convinced that he won't grow out of these.
