Immune Booster?
A friend has an English Bulldog being treated for cancer. The vet has told them to build up his immune system while he gets treatments. Any advice on building the immune system? Thanks!

Seacure for Pets is one that comes to mind. I remember the Whole dog journal doing an article on it .

Re: Immune Booster?
I have a jar of an immune booster powder that we bought from our holistic vet shortly before Buster passed away (never even used it). I'd be happy to pass it along to your friend's bulldog. I can't recall the brand off the top of my head but I can let you know tonight. What type of cancer are they facing? There's a post here with lots of links to different canine cancer sites that may be helpful. I'll try to find it.
Re: Immune Booster?
This is what I use for Tank--it supports as opposed to boosts as he is immune suppressed and we want to support rather than boost:

I would also suggest boosting his Omegas. Tank gets three to four times the dosage on the bottle of herring oil
Have also used Moducare and Co Enzyme Q10 on other dogs.
Might be worth thinking about L-Glutamine as it's a good supplement for the gut and some dogs have gastric issues with cancer treatment.

He has brain cancer. It is a tumor. He is getting chemo. She spoke to a second vet and he said the only thing he could offer advice on is to build his immune system. Thank you for the advice.

Poor boy. I know that some dogs do get nausea with the chemo--it's when the L-Glutamine can be helpful. His family must be crushed.MackandMattiesMom wrote:He has brain cancer. It is a tumor. Re: Immune Booster?
Ok, I must've been having one of my C.R.S. moments. The jar we have is a nutritional supplement, not really an immune booster (bought it when we were having trouble getting him to eat). They're still welcome to it if they'd like it, though.

The immune booster that we used specifically for Buster was this one:

We've also used this one:
