Hair loss treatment for pugs
One of my friends was sharing that her pug was losing hair and her skin was turning black. She had already changed her diet, added efa caps and did blood work and everything came out fine. Her vet put her on Melatonin and low and behold, the fur is coming back. I had never heard of this treatment and wanted to share with others who may not know. It seems to be a low side-effect treatment.

Something that I too had never heard of. I wonder what the dosage is. Melatonin is what I take to help me sleep! I cut a 1mg tablet in half and that is enough to help me.

She is giving her 3 mg twice a day for 90 days. She is a pretty small pug too. (16 lbs or so). But the before and after pics after just a few weeks is amazing!

Fur regrowth photo
It's my pug, Sora, who was suffering fur loss - bald, pink chest & underside, loss at base of tail, fur looked "dirty" and skin looked darker in places. After months of trying to figure it out (and make sure it wasn't anything serious), the melatonin worked! She's still got a little way to go, but her fur is thicker, softer, beautiful apricot, and mostly grown back. She's 14 lbs and takes 3mg twice a day - for 90 days. Pic on left is from October 2013, and right is from Sunday.

Interesting. I have a black female who's fur has always been thin. I wonder if this would help her? I will read up on it! She looks great!
