Salem's Been Adopted

So, Salem is heading to his new home this afternoon.

He's being adopted by a wonderful young woman who can bring him to work with her at the university several times a week. She has no other dogs, but does have a cat (Salem loves kitties). Her last dog was an aggressive, bite-y cocker spaniel that her ex-husband kept after the divorce. This time, she said, she wants "a really sweet dog." And that's exactly what she's getting. She pug-sat for a friend's pug for a few weeks and decided that was the breed for her. It was love at first sight for her and Salem, who happily perched in her lap during our entire adoption counseling session.

Some fosters are harder to let go of than others, and I'm going to miss Salem A LOT. He's just a first-rate little pug man. His adopter is lucky to be getting such a great companion.

Salem is currently in our spay/neuter clinic, having his jewels removed, and the new adopter will pick him up there later today. As for Marlee, she's in heaven having the office all to herself. She's been rolling on the dog bed on her back with all four feet in the air, has moved every toy back to its "correct" spot, and happily gobbles pieces of hot dog from dog-walking volunteers without having to share with Salem. Such a sensitive, delicate little flower, isn't she?

Awe, Salem is so stinking cute!! I am glad he found a new home so soon. And, glad that Marlee is back as top dog.

She's been online shopping for Salem all day (another Etsy collar fanatic!), and says that she thinks she and Salem are "a match made in heaven." I think Salem's going to be very happy in his new home.
