Bath time

Hi there! I have been bathing Jazzy girl about 2x a month..Jazzy doesnt like her bath...but after she is all done..She gets all frisky and runs back& forth thru the house,it is funny to watch her,but didnt know if any of you have this happen with your babies?..I do give her coconut oil in her food and she will only eat chicken breast& sweetpotatos? The flat out run with the butt tucked under is called a Pugtona. Penny used to do pugtonas all over the house after her bath. Unfortunately, her arthritis kind of rules pugtonas out anymore. It is hilarious to watch. Katie (Katie & Stella) has a pic of Stella doing a pugtona as her avatar.

Coconut oil in her food is an excellent idea. She probably needs a little more nutrition than chicken chest and sweet potatoes, though. See if your local independent pet supply store (assuming you have one) will give you samples of various grain free kibble to try on Jazz. I'd maybe add a bit of plain fat-free yogurt to her food, too.

Hey thank you for the info about pugtona..lol..It is so funny ..I do give her some of my yougart,she doesnt seem to like it,Jazzy girl has always been a picky eater.. But i am always ready to try different foods for her and i have bought many different dog food kibbles only to end up giving it away..But one thing she does enjoy is strawberry milkshake( proably not good for her),but it is only once in a great while!! thanks for answering my topic and how in the world do you get friends on here? was just wondering why i have no friends:-(....God Bless you

You'll find most Pug owners bathe their Pugs just a few times a year unless they get really dirty. Wiping their feet or just a good brush should see you through other times. Even twice a year is not unusual! And yes, they do love the mad running afterwards!

Thank you so much for the info..I must be way over bathing my Jazzy girl..omw... well now i know and i am sure Jazzy will be very happy..So do you use any of the other bathing cloths to wipe your baby down in between bathing's? May i also ask you does your pug have seperation issues? Jazzy girl actually cries when i have to leave her and my hubby says she stares at the door waiting for me to return, which makes me feel awful ...Thank you for any advise& God Bless you

Bathing her so often may irritate her skin and dry out her fur.

My pugs get professional grooming about every 3-4 months. Other than that, they only get a bath if they get very dirty or one of them pees on the other, lol!

About the food - you may have to wait her out. If she is used to getting the chicken and sweet potato, then of course she won't eat what you want her to eat. Some pugs are very, very stubborn about holding out for the good food.

Since I'm living with my mom now, I'm bathing Marlee every couple weeks, but she's never been prone to itchiness and is doing fine with it. My mom is a clean freak who hasn't had a dog in over 10 years, so the slightest hint of "dog stink" would make her insane. So it partially depends on your pug's ability to tolerate frequent bathing, and what your needs dictate too. But generally, less is more.

Rosie gets a bath every 2-3 months too...Julian was more but he was a boy and loved dirt LOL

Separation is normal, does she have a crate? I got Rosie & Julian used to the crate the second they came home, although Julian was more spoiled (bc he was sick) and always ended up in the bed.
Rosie sleeps in her crate all night for 2 reasons 1 It's safer right now while she is a puppy and 2 She isn't fully potty trained.

I don't think people add friends too much, we just all talk a lot, some of us more than others, I used to reply to every post then some unfortunate events took place so as I get over that mess (another time)...I am slowly getting back to responses.
