Update on Kimchi Empty Update on Kimchi

Post  Not Afraid 8/16/2009, 9:57 pm

Kimchi had another visit with her potential family today - this time without Chris and I present. While she did pretty good with Ginger (or Ginger didn't mind her) she stood by the door for most of the visit looking for me to come back. Christy said she seemed pretty stressed for most of the time. She she brought her home, Kimchi just exploded! She was so happy and kept giving Chris and I kisses and then start playing with Thurston. I think he even missed her. Christy said she was like the "Stepford Dog" at her house.

I'm not sure what's going to happen yet, but I'm not really loving the idea of stressing her out. She's been through a lot - we're her 4th or 5th "home" in her three short years.

All I have to say is I SUCK at fostering!

I'm not saying anything. Yet. But, it is looking very likely like my failure record for fostering is better than most baseball teams at the moment.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a foster failure if it's whats
best for all of you! It sounds like she may have found her last home!

I've secretly wished Kimchi would stay a permanent resident. She sure needs a very special home and family. hug dog

It may take her a few days to get used to the new family and stop looking for you. I know Jessie pines for me when I leave for a day or two, then returns to normal around the house.

On the other hand...if she fits in so well, why fight it?? There are worse things than being a foster failure.

You know, from your first posts about her, it just seemed she was home; in any case, I know you'll make the right decision. She is lucky to have you!

Follow your heart. If you have room in your heart and your home for another one, and Thurston doesn't mind, I say go for it. But no pressure. Wink

And this is my big dilemma. I know if we just threw her into the new situation she would adjust after a few days, but.....do I really want to put her through this? She's been through SOOOOO much. I KNOW she would have a good home with my clients/friends and I would see her often, but she is very comfortable here, LOVES Chris, sleeps in the bed like a little human, and has become quite the lap dog (she didn't want to sit on a lap 3 weeks ago). The cats are fine with her, in fact Thurston irritates them more than she does. I think my only real concern is that I just have a LOT of pets. But, hey, at least I don't have to put them through college, right? Wink

I should've married a veterinarian.

These things happen for a reason. I think she needed you and Thurston needed a pug buddy!

I think you have your answer, Lisa.

I've been having the, "I should have BEEN a veterinarian" talk with myself this summer! (It was one of the first things I wanted to be when I was a child.)

I guess I can still hope to marry one! Laughing
