Getting another foster...
I was taking a "break" after having two fosters at one time, but just can't let this little girl just not have anywhere to go. She is 5-6 yrs old and fawn. We have named her Fran. She has been over bred and has had a litter less than two weeks ago per the vet. No milk, so this is likely why she was dumped. Her toofers are bad and she is full o' worms and fleas. Ears are filthy. She has bloody discharge, but vet thinks it's from her recent litter, so she is on antibiotics to keep from getting an infection. She needs to be spayed and a dental, but not before we stabilize her a little more and resolve some of the parasite issues. Her coat is bad. I am guessing a BYB situation and she was dumped when she couldn't take care of her puppies. She is very sweet, seems to like people and want attention, but not real sure how to go about it. She walks up to you with the tail wagging, but when you reach for her, she shys away. She is real stiff when you pick her up and kind of flattens. Not sure she's ever been touched or loved on at all. Very good girl though. I should have some pics to share of her tomorrow. Vet wanted to keep her for the night to make sure she was ok to expose to my brood. He was worried about sarcoptic mange, but she isn't itchy at all, so that is a good sign. Maybe just a bad diet is contributing to the bad coat.

that poor thing! thanks for opening your home to her Marci. You're an angel!!
I hope she has nothing wrong with her that a little TLC and vet care can't fix.

Awww, break shmake, DH knew it wouldn't last too long and when I told him today that she was going to be coming home with me tomorrow, he simply asked what we were going to call her.... That made me smile and love him more. He really is good to put up with it all. Heck, we were only fosterless for 23 days!!

Fosterless for 23 days? That must be some kind of record for you, Marci! *LOL*
Give your hubby a smooch from me! What an incredible guy!

Re: Getting another foster...
Thanks guys!! I prefer to think they were given to a mom with milk, but I know that is not real world, but that is what I prefer to think! DH gets all "mothering" when we get one that needs help. It's kinda cute to hear him talk about them and what they have been through. People at work say that it is about the only thing that reminds them that he has a soft side... Little do they know he is a big ole softy who cries at the drop of a hat!!
I liked Fran too, it seems to fit her. I will post pics of her tomorrow!

Ken is the same way, that is how I got him to agree to foster Sophie, because she was so sad.
I am glad you are getting her, poor thing!

Re: Getting another foster...
Aw Marci.. just saw Fran's pictures on FB. Her story and face are very similar to my hospice pug Peachy. It took her a few months before Peachy realized that my hand would not hit her,but only give her loving pets. She still will not let me brush her, and I have had her since February. Fran's eyes look so sad. I can't wait to see the transformation when she learns what love and care is. It breaks my heart to hear what she has had to endure. Thanks for opening your heart to Fran and giving her a loving foster home.
