Bump on the pad of the foot Empty Bump on the pad of the foot

Hooli started limping this morning, I couldn't find anything wrong but then I caught him chewing on his foot. On the bottom of his pad, in between his toes is a bump. I can't tell if maybe something stung him or what-it didn't look like there is anything in it (like a thorn, etc). But it's definitely red and uncomfortable. My vet is closed today and it doesn't seem like something to go to the ER with, so any suggestions on what to do? I gave him a benedryl and was going to go and get some espsolm salts and soak it?

Yeah but I'd rather go to my vet if I can. I've also got a housecheck and a board meeting so I'd like to wait until after work tomorrow if it's not an emergency, which it doesn't appear to be.

It could be an interdigital cyst. Not an emergency. Hazel gets them from time to time. I soak the foot in epsom salts and pretty warm water. Her's have all gone away on their own. I've heard you can put Preparation H on them, but have never tried it. Here's a link talking about them. This Lowchen site from Australia is awesome for all the information they have--most of it excellent!

I was thinking it could be a cyst, Hooli had one of those before, on the top of his toe. It went away on its own too. It kind of looks similar but I'm sure it's more uncomfortable since it's on the bottom. I might try and get some Prep H too while I'm out (oh the things I do for my pug! Laughing ). Thanks Blanche!

maybe you could just call them and say you can't bring him in today but wanted to make sure it wasn't an emergency. Wink

Mel, I got it covered, thanks. If the salts don't work then I'll take him in, the other interdigital cyst he had went away on its own. Just wanted to see if anyone had any other suggestions besides the salts!

Saira, Wally had a big bump between his toes that the vet said was just a histiocytoma. He actually had me put some medication that's normally for ears (I think, or maybe it was eyes?) saying they'd found as a secondary use, it helped with that type of bump; it took awhile for it to go away, but it did. Hope Hooli's goes away quickly!

Poor Hooli! Life is so rough he's getting bumps now!! Heehee

You are much cooler than I am Saira! I tend to freak out and over react about every little bump anywhere! ashamed
