Another day, another shelter pug
Sigh. I'm getting tired. And I'd like some time to do my actual work. Shelter called about a "geriatric" pug but then said he was only 6 so who knows! We need to figure out a way to get him today. And Georgie was supposed to get relased today but our vet is off and there is a hold on his file so now I'm stressed about that.
Re: Another day, another shelter pug
Yep, one thing after another. That sucks!
I think the hardest part is the red tape, and constant waiting. Fortunately, we are on very good terms with out animal control shelter here.....but, I just shudder to think if we weren't!
I have a bigger problem up here dealing with other rescues. We have been trying to coordinate with another rescue to get some dogs out of a "breeders" home.....well, the other rescue pissed off the "breeder", and now we won't get any of the dogs.
Ugh.

Yeah it's frustrating that no one understands we all work full time, it's always urgent, urgent, urgent. There is only so many hours in a day I can do things!
That sucks, I hope there is some way you guys can still get them!
Re: Another day, another shelter pug
We've been lucky enough to have several retirees as volunteers - they are generally the ones that can take any rush pick ups at shelters (or bonehead owner surrenders).
Do you have any adopters who are retired and maybe can help you in this way?
(and good luck!)

We had an awesome person who was a stay at home mom but she moved. We're calling around to see who is available! I need to win the lottery, you can't do this and have a job too.

Tarrington, are you sure you don't want to just buy a house here instead? They are cheap! And you can babysit Sophie.....

Luckily we found someone to get them. 1 is an older little black boy. Uhoh!

Awe, I can't wait to hear all about them!
I wish I lived there too! I have a lot of energy for rescue!
Re: Another day, another shelter pug
Jerry & I joke all the time about not having time for our regular jobs doing rescue, it's just never ending...

Is it a change of season thing - the sudden glut of abandoned and surrendered pugs? Or is it just a hiccup in the bell curve? Any guesses?

We seem to get them all in at once-it can be quiet for a couple of weeks and then we get in a bunch. We usually get a lot around the holidays so it might be starting the holiday rush early. The 2 from the shelter were owner surrenders, both are supposed to have bad ear infections. I'll call the vet tomorrow and check up on them. There are 2 more boys coming in tomorrow as well!

Awe, I love the boys. So under-appreciated!!

Couldn't agree more. That's exactly the way it is over here in the UK. I am dreading the start of the pre-holiday clear-out.
And yes, one pug does have a habit of turning into two pugs ...

Annnnnd, another shelter one on death's door. We seriously can't keep up with this. Ugh! Poor Angie is going and getting this one now, and hopefully she will be getting pics of the other 2 we pulled that are at our vet's.

Gah Saira - it is a never ending stream of them! You guys are getting hit hard! Do you have enough foster homes?

No, we're just about at our limit. Hopefully we can adopt some out after POR, that gives them lots of exposure.

LoL yeah she looks adorable! I guess she is tiny 16 pounds but the vet said she needs to be down to 14-she has LP but he thinks surgery can be avoided if we get the weight off of her!
Re: Another day, another shelter pug
Oh, I love how light her ears are!!
But, I saw the pics of Puggy (original name there. )...he is a handsome old man!

Re: Another day, another shelter pug
Puggy is a great old man! His foster said he is doing great.
Here are the other 2 from Lied. Yankee is the black boy and Dex is the fawn. Both are apparently very sweet and playful. Yankee and Junebug were owner surrenders (grr) and Dex was a stray.
