This is so weird. I don't think I've ever had a dog do this before. But
Prissy jumps in her sleep..well, more like twitches. It's really weird
and today she was doing it and I called her name but she didn't wake up
or come out of it. She is a really heavy sleeper though (I mess with her
paws and everything while she's sleeping).

I was just wondering if anyone else has seen their dog do this? Is it
just her? She doesn't make an sounds, she just jumps/twitches.

It's just normal sleeping. All of my dogs do this and all of my prior ones did it. I've had some that barked in their sleep and one border collies that would run, full out, while sleeping on her side.

Dreaming or myoclonic jerks. Nothing to worry about.

OK good! I didn't even think that maybe she was just dreaming. My chi's didn't do it and I don't think I've ever seen a dog (other than in a movie) do it lol.

Yes, Toddy is very vocal in his sleep and also twitches from time to time.

Penny does it, too. Casey Cat and Sam the Cat did it, too. I think they are dreaming, and would love to know what they dream!

I had one that would wake us out of a sound sleep in the middle of the night, SCREAMING!!! We'd jump up and run to the sound, only to find her laying in her bad sound asleep, but screaming like she was being murdered. It didn't happen every night, but often enough it would scare us half to death.

I called her Helen, the Hellion, because she was just as naughty when she was awake!!! I did hear her name was changed to Elaine, the French version of Helen/Helene, but she remains Helen in my mind.

Tallulah does this too....frequently!! Also as she falls asleep her tail uncurls...like one of those New Year's Eve rolled up paper "blow outs" you blow into and they unroll...just picture it in slow motion! Twitching 4161173967

All three of ours do this, too. Sometimes we get a special treat and Chester will wag his tail while he's sleeping.

Every now and again, Penny will wake me up in the wee small hours of the morning with a bark that is more a roar. I put on the light, and she will be sitting there, looking confused. I think that whatever she was chasing turned on her. A gentle hug and a drop of lavender oil massage will put her back to sleep, though.
