Kimchi - Seizure?
I didn't want to put this in the Seizure thread because I'm not sure what happened was a seizure.
My house cleaner was leaving yesterday and yelled from the front to tell me so. Kimchi jumped off the bed where she was sleeping and ran to her, barking. When she got there, she fell on her side, legs straight out, eyes open and shook for maybe 10 seconds. There was no pee or drool and she was completely fine by the time I got out to the door.
Something similar happened when I first brought her home. She was barking at something outside. I picked her up and she had a very quick (maybe 5 second) seizure. She just went a bit stiff and shook a tiny bit, then was fine.
I'm taking her to the vet on Friday. It's not an emergency at all. But, in my "non-professional" analysis, this is not epilepsy. I'm thinking that maybe she has a damaged heart and she is fainting. Because it happens when she goes from a resting state to an excited state, I'm thinking her blood starts pumping too hard and causes her to black out for a bit.
The only other thing I can think of (besides PDE) is a reaction to flea medication. She had her Revolution on Sunday. She was tested as heartworm negative in Korea.
Any similar experiences out there? I'm sure the vet will do some tests, but I always like to go in armed with information.

I have no idea. Hopefully the vet will know. I hope it's nothing serious.

I also am not an expert, but it does sound like a seizure to me. When Chloe faints she doesn't do the shaking, she just falls and isn't stiff and is back up in seconds.
((hugs)) I hope the vet has some good advice.

Re: Kimchi - Seizure?
I just talked to the rescue org and there was NO sign of her having any seizures of any sort that they know of. Apparently, after she had her LP surgery, she was boarded at the vet until she was well enough to be transported here.
This poor girl! I'm so glad she is with me, but at the same time, I'm worried about her having all sorts of health problems. My gut feeling is that this isn't the end of the surprises. But, she's totally worth her weight in gold.

Bella "passed out" one time, at least that is what I called it. She had swallowed a piece of tennis ball and was trying to hack it up and she passed out. I think he airway was restricted. I ran over cleared her mouth and sat her up right and she seemed fine. It hasn't happened siice. Maybe her airway gets restricted when she is overstimulated? Prayers she is ok!

Re: Kimchi - Seizure?
We went to the vet today and got some decent news. The vet thinks that a) she may have kennel cough and b) her seizures are caused by her breathing getting blocked. We're going to do a (much needed) dental next Wednesday and, and the same time, take an xray of her trachea and her soft palate. It may just be that the bit of stuffiness is causing her to pass out when she gets super excited. OR, she needs her palate snipped a bit. OR her trachea is either partially collapsed but not bad enough to see without an xray.
The 2 pieces of REALLY GREAT news are:
a) Her leg has improved about 80% and she is NOT going to need surgery.
b) her heart sounds perfect.
I'm much relieved.

Re: Kimchi - Seizure?
I am MUCH more at ease about her today. She's such a good girl and has changed so much in the last 6 weeks. I'm glad she doesn't seem to have too many major medical problems. It is all manageable.
The vet also checked her eyes for PK and they look fine.
