Kennel cough
Lilo has been coughing since we got her from the pet store i have been researching it quite a bit since it start, she is normally coughing in the morning and at night and sometimes randomly during the day. I have allready set up an appointment with the vet for the morning tomarrow.
Tonight though kinda spooked me, she coughed untill she threw up in her mouth then swallowed it. We think stitch may have caught it as well, he was heaving the other night before bed, not sure so we are going to take them to the vet in the morning.
Anyone else have these types of experiences?
Lilo is not showing anything other than coughing, she is still very very energetic and playful, no running poop no fever, just the weird cough.

Re: Kennel cough
we just went through kennel cough with one of mine. Is it a dry hacking cough, that sounds a bit like a goose honking?
the "no other symptoms" really does sound like kennel cough. the good news is that a round of antibiotics, with a little cough suppressant will clear it right up.

Thank you for the response, were gonna get them looked at tomarrow, which is going to be a pain in the butt, lilo hates the vet. Stitch on the other hand is in love with the vet.
She will dry cough 5-6 times then sounds like she is coughing up and swallowing phlem.

Good thoughts for an easy fix! Kennel cough is horrible, but they do get over it. It's the secondary infections that are the biggest concern. Definitely need some TLC and good meds.

Re: Kennel cough
Im pretty sure its kennel cough, just waking up stitch is now hacking and coughing up phlegm. Our regular vet wasn't in the day we got Lilo, the vet that did see her told us repeatedly that lilo was fine etc, etc. We took her in twice. Stitches normal vet would have picked this up, she loves our dogs, even though I can't understand a word she is saying because she speaks Japanese, Stitch really likes her.
When stitch was three months old he got Gastro of some kind and got really sick, I mean sick to the point that he wasn't moving or eating he had diarrhea, Vomiting. We took him to our normal vet she took him right in! she put him in a private room away from other dogs, and she stayed with him all night to watch him, she called us at midnight to tell us his fever broke and he started eating again! about 8 hours later she called us again and told us he was very energetic, but she wanted to keep him longer just in case! She proved to me that day that she cared about our dog, she stayed at work on a night she wasn't meant to stay to take care of our puppy.

Re: Kennel cough
Confirmed Kennel Cough, they were given antiboitics, and "Im sorry" from the Vet for not catching it the first time, they should be happy pups again soon enough.

Fingers crossed they should be, Stitch got a lower dose of medicine because he is just starting to show the signs of kennel cough, where as lilo has a pretty heavy dose. She really is a daddies girl, when she starts coughing really hard she crawls into my lap for protection. Makes me feel all warm and gooey inside.

Re: Kennel cough
That's good news. Both my boys came down with kennel cough after a show a couple of years ago (why must people bring ill dogs to shows?) but luckily they both cleared up pretty quickly.
