Cool as Ice Pawtay -->
In case there's anyone here around Boston that I don't know about, thought I'd post info on a party we're throwing. Sunday, 6/17, from 1-3 we're hosting the "Cool as Ice Pawtay" at the Newton Especially for Pets. When I say "we", I mean me and the boyz...in addition to working for Honest Kitchen, having a treat company, and working for an independent pet supply chain...we recently started our own non-profit (because I have that much free time ).
We started the Friends with Benefits Fund for Yoda - a pug that came to us via animal control in my town after years of neglect and abuse. Yoda (formerly Elmo) is 13 and besides a lot that could have been fixed if owners cared for him previously, he is dealing with degenerative myelopathy. So now that he's found freedom and love he wants to run and play (yes at 13!), but his body just can't keep up with him. We did some initial fundraising to get him eye drops, ear drops, supplements and the like...his vet care has been donated by vets/specialists I know. But Yoda needs a cart so we're doing a special push to raise funds (we're working with Eddie's Wheels which we're lucky enough to have in our backyard).
You can find out more about Yoda's story at the FB page we've set up for the fund (just a couple of days ago so apologies for the minimalist look): http://fb.com/friendswithbenefitsfund. If you'd like to help Yoda but can't attend the party we have a chip-in.
If you're in the area we'd love to see you, if you're not but want to help please like and share the FBF facebook page
~~Lisa, Vince, Norman, Doug-Doug and of course Yoda

Lisa, you are awesome. I will definitely chip in on payday (although I wish I could go!). And Yoda is a doll. I'm so glad he gets to be happy now, and I hope he gets his cart.

The best of luck with this, Lisa, as Saira said, you ARE awesome!

Re: Cool as Ice Pawtay -->
You ladies are very kind but I'm just doing what needed to be done. Since I stepped down as adoption manager at our local pug rescue, pugs in need still keep finding me (Yoda is the 2nd one in 3 months). So the boyz decided to do what they could and enlisted my help (since they don't type well).
Re: Cool as Ice Pawtay -->
Eddie's Wheels is fabulous! They are building a quad cart for my foster Kobe. :)
I hope you raise lots of money for Yoda.

Isn't it funny how that happens? I tried to "retire" from rescue several years ago but it just keeps sucking me back in!
Thank you for helping Yoda. I hope that the party is a huge success (wish I was close enough to go!) and that he has his wheels soon!

Rescue is like the mob...just when you think you're out, it sucks you back in.
