Seasonal Allergies
For those of you with pugs with seasonal allergies, how do you help them find relief? I think Makayla has developed seasonal allergies (so have I actually!) in the past year. Last October, when we got back from Puggerfest, she started having miserably itchy feet. We got some spray to help relieve it (and I switched her food wondering if maybe that was part of it) and it took a while, but her itchy feet went away and no more problems - until now.
In the past two weeks, she has started with miserably itchy toes again. And of course, I just happened to switch her to a new food (just to get all three on the same food for the first time ever). I know humans are having terrible allergy issues right now, so I'm thinking her itchy toes are allergies again and the food change is just a coincidence - but of course I have no way of knowing. So, for now, I'm leaving her on the food and just treating with Benadryl twice a day and her foot spray when needed. Is there anything else I can do to help her itchy feet?

Penny's been itchy, and the shampoo and spray (Douxo Calm) has worked miracles. You can get it from http://www.healthypets.com/docash6floz.html

The boys get itchy feet too! We give a benedryl (they are on grain free so it's allergies to the grass not food), and I also found soaking their feet in a warm bath with epsom salts seem to help them.
Re: Seasonal Allergies
Tilly has been itchy too lately, biting at her feet and scratching her ears. I know it's seasonal, so I've just been giving her Benedryl. It doesn't help much, but I don't want to put her on a prescription unless I have to. She is also dropping coat like crazy and was actually not so itchy after I brushed her.

Well, we did a quick epsom salt soak tonight. Makayla HATES water and HATES having anything done to her feet, so trying to soak her feet was just a world of fun. Couldn't do it for as long as I wanted because she was convinced I was trying to kill her, but we did get them soaked, so we'll see if she finds any relief tonight.

Indy is the same way! I don't know if you tried this before, but it's worked for us-we smear peanut butter on the side of the tub. It keeps him busy. Of course then I have to clean the tub, but oh well!

Off topic but...We had a lab that hated the tub! We could wash him outside with the hose, but try to put all 120 lbs of him in the tub and you were going to be sorry! I decided it would be my mission to get him in there. So I lined the far side of the tub with hot dogs...for days he never knew when there might be treats. He would climb right in eat the hot dogs and climb out. If I saw him I'd tell him what a good boy he was, put I never pushed it.
After a week or so I tried the bath again...no way in hell!!! But for years we would hear him clunking around in the tub looking for treats

Baby Girl has seasonal allergies. I try to keep her off the benedryl if possible, but sometimes I must. She gets bathed in the Douxo Calm and I keep the spray on hand also.

Re: Seasonal Allergies
Kayla's itchy toes have been off and on. They were really red and irritated today so we did a foot soak in the tub. And I used the peanut butter trick - of course I had to put it on the inside of the tub for Kayla and in two spots on the outside of the tub for the other two stooges!! The epsom salt soaks do seem to give her some relief.
Of course, now Grace keeps going in and out of the bathroom just checking to see if there's any more peanut butter on the tub!!
