Sophie's vet visit!
She got to see her favorite person in the world today, her specialist. They said she looks like a normal pug finally. Her bumps are the smallest they have been, and her coat is great. We are going down even lower on the steroids and if this holds up for the next 2 months we will...go steroid free! I am keeping my fingers crossed!
They found the fact that she had eaten rocks very amusing.

ALRIGHT SOPHIE AND SAIRA!!!
That is fabulous news!! I bet the specialist thought her rock eating was funny. It's not her dog doing it!

Re: Sophie's vet visit!
So, how is she going to get away with all of her shenanigans if you don't feel sorry for her?
That's FANTASTIC news!!!!

Good point, Lisa. But if I know Sophie, she'll develop some other strategy designed to bring Saira's grey hairs in sorrow to the grave. Not Afraid wrote:So, how is she going to get away with all of her shenanigans if you don't feel sorry for her?
Re: Sophie's vet visit!
could the steriods explain why she beats her brothers up regularly or is that just her personality?

You've done SO good with her!
Maybe when she is off the steroids she won't be hungry enough to eat rocks. Those steroids can make a girl hungry!

So, what are you doing to control the bumps? Is it a diet thing? Or other allergies? Did you guys ever get closer to pinpointing a cause?

Basically it's an immune disorder so not sure on the cause, other then thinking it was probably genetic in Sophie's case, or at least a component of it was. Our vet was hoping that Sophie would mimic how it seems happens in children, because she had it so young-it tends to get better over time in young kids. We have been getting her as healthy as possible, improving her diet, trying to control what we can figure out to be the worst triggers (cutting the grass seems to be one), and overall keeping her stress levels down. There really isn't a "cure" for it, but it seems to be under control, at least that is our hope.
And the little butthead seems to have learned a few tricks too-another trigger is her getting her nails dremeled!

I love reading this Sophie update! Hopefully she will continue along this line. Just never cut your grass. *LOL*
Hugs from me to her!

Three cheers for Sophie! When I'm on steroids for my asthma, my refrigerator is never emptier, and I might consider eating rocks. As for the beating up on her brothers, well, time will tell. She has to stay somewhat Sophie...

I'm sorry, Saira, but this just cracked me up. The ultimate pug nail trimming avoidance maneuver. Have a mastocytosis flare up. I guess making her behave is out as it would be stressful......
