Can We Talk About Teeth and Chewing?
As you know, my Tilly just had two molars removed and her lower canine on the same side ground down. On the opposite side she has a molar missing too. My question to you is .... for those of you who have dogs with missing teeth do they still chew on bully sticks and such? It's been two weeks since Tilly's dental procedure so I let her have her bully for a short time this morning. She didn't seem to know what to do with it. She kept moving it from side to side. Should we not give her one?

She will more than likely be ok with it eventually. Bella has only a few teeth left and she loves to chew on bones more than any of our other pugs.

My newest foster is 10+ yrs old and only has a few teeth and he loved the bully stick yesterday. Try soaking the end in water to make it a little mushy to start her off!

The reality is that the fewer teeth they have, the more important it is for them to chew as it helps keep the gums and jaws strong. It may just be a matter of her adjusting to the new feeling of the missing/ground down teeth. At one point, Pete had only four teeth--his two upper and lower canines, but he loved a good chew.

Thanks for asking the question, Sally. Chester just lost a few teeth and I was wondering that myself.
