I thought the whole thing sounded familiar, and the dates were weird. I'm ignorant as to how spammers/bots operate. What are they trying to accomplish, and how do they decide what to post?

I'm not sure what was up with that one. Usually they post some nonsense (or copy another member's post) and then add a link to some kind of ad at the bottom but I didn't see any links in this one.
