Wow, Evangers dog food gets busted by FDA
I am shocked... but, maybe I shouldn't be?
Evanger's dog food was inspected by the FDA and found to be "adulterated". The FDA tested their lamb & rice food and found the food did not contain lamb at all. Rather, it contained "bovine material". Same goes for Evanger's Duck food.
Read the article FDA Warning to Evangers
Wow. Un-fricking-believable.
So, the big questions is: WHY THE HECK IS THERE NO RECALL?

GRRRRR. What if someone was feeding the supposedly lamb-based food due to a beef allergy??? That's heinous.

That's awful. Not surprising though, it's amazing how long it takes to issue human food recalls. They give these companies wayyyyy too many chances to cover up their crappy practices, in my opinion.
Re: Wow, Evangers dog food gets busted by FDA
Evanger's has a long and suspect history. At one point (and I'm not sure where the case is now), the owners were charged with illegal rerouting of gas and electrical wiring/piping to both their home and their business--up to 2 million dollars worth of illegal gas/electric. And were charged with money laundering over $500,000.
I suspect the reason the food hasn't been recalled is that the food isn't "technically" tainted. Just dishonestly produced and marketed.

Yep, I'm sure you are exactly right. Still unbelievable! This is what the pet food industry does. It makes me sick! How can we trust anything?

Bottom line, you can't. I often feel anxious feeding commercially pre-prepared raw, but until I can produce my own whole carcass raw, I have to grin and bear it.Renee wrote:northernwitch wrote:

Blanche- Your carcass wouldn't have enough meat to feed a tiny pug puppy, let alone your entire gang. ........

I've never heard of Evanger's. Wow that is just crazy! I wish I could say that I'm surprised but nothing surprises me these days in the pet food industry.
